A television camera crew caught footage of a man who says he's a homeless alcoholic directing bus traffic out of a New Jersey Transit lot in midtown Manhattan.

NBC New York reports (http://bit.ly/14PyUwH ) that the man was wearing an agency vest and using a flag to direct the buses last week. But NJ Transit told the TV station that the man wasn't an employee.

When confronted by the reporter, he acknowledged being drunk and displayed a vodka bottle.

The man said he was paid by an NJ Transit employee at the lot to direct traffic.

NJ Transit said he was being removed immediately. The agency said it was unclear how he ended up doing the work.

NJ Transit didn't immediately comment to The Associated Press.
