New Jerseyans, as well as consumers nationwide have been abuzz since Amazon announced its $13.7 billion takeover of Whole Foods, wondering how the deal will affect regular Whole Foods customers.

Both companies have announced that prices will immediately drop on many of the stores most popular food items. This is great news for people (like me) who regard Whole Foods as too expensive for regular shopping--it doesn't get the nickname "whole Paycheck" for nothin'!

Besides just lowering the prices, Amazon is also planning special savings and other in-store benefits for Amazon Prime member, a move that's sure to please customers of both companies. But I know you want to know.. what will be cheaper and when will it happen?

Beginning Monday, August 28th, here's a list of the food items that became cheaper at Whole Foods so far. And according to both companies, there's more to come!

  • Bananas
  • Avocados
  • Eggs
  • Baby kale
  • Baby lettuce
  • Salmon
  • Tilapia
  • Lean ground beef
  • Almond butter
  • Apples
  • Rotisserie chicken
  • Organic butter
