Federal prosecutors say a New Jersey teacher solicited a 13-year-old child to produce images of sexually explicit conduct in exchange for money.

David Adams was detained without bail following a court hearing Tuesday. The 29-year-old Branchburg man is charged with online enticement of a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity.

Prosecutors say Adams communicated with the child, who lives outside New Jersey, during a four-month period last year. They met through an online gaming community and communicated through text and video chats.

Adams allegedly offered to pay for sexually explicit images and for live video chat sessions during which the victim engaged in sexually explicit conduct while Adams watched and directed the child's actions.

Prosecutors say the victim sent Adams the images and took part in the chat sessions.
