Middlesex County prosecutors announced Monday that 19-year-old Caitlyn Kovacs died from "acute ethanol toxicity."

Authorities have said Kovacs "became distressed" while attending a house party in New Brunswick. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

The South Brunswick resident was sophomore at the university, where she was a student in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, majoring in animal sciences.

Authorities say the investigation into Kovacs' death is ongoing.
