While I'm a huge proponent of Jersey beaches and bays from Sandy Hook to Cape May, every once in a while you wanna see something new.

Last summer I took a ride to Chesapeake City Md. for the day and really enjoyed it.  That was a little over an hour drive.  This time I decided to go a little further south and hit the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

When I was a kid my dad and uncle would take me to Chestertown, Md. to go crabbing on the Chester River.  That area boasted the biggest crabs on the east coast.  Well if you go about 10 miles past there through rolling hills of huge cornfields you'll eventually hit the shores of the Chesapeake Bay and a town called Rock Hall.

Great seafood restaurants on the water, a quaint little downtown and a ton of boating and fishing options.  There is a free bay beach with a lifeguard and a free pool at the public marina also with lifeguards.  You can rent a bike from one of the private marina's that also has lodging and a pool.  The best feature of this quite little bayside oasis...some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet on the east coast.  You'll quickly realize "you ain't in Jersey anymore"!
