Police are searching for a vehicle that allegedly crashed into an Italian deli in Blackwood the day after last month's blizzard, and then fled the scene leaving no evidence behind.

The Gloucester Township Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit investigated the hit-and-run on Jan. 24. According to police, an unknown vehicle crashed into the front of Original Italian Village located at 1136 South Black Horse Pike, across from the Gloucester Premium Outlets. The crash was reported to police between 2 and 3 p.m.

The crash resulted in "significant damage" to the store before the vehicle fled the area, police said in a press release.

"The striking vehicle did not leave behind any physical evidence, and there were no witnesses or cameras in the area," the press release stated.

Police are asking that any member of the public who knows someone "who owns and/ or operates a car or truck with recent heavy damage" to contact the the Gloucester Township Police Traffic Safety Unit at 856-228-4500, or call our GTPD Anonymous Crime Tip Line at 856-842-5560.
