WILLIAMSTOWN — A pedestrian struck by a car was thrown almost 100 feet and died as the result of his injuries.

The Monroe Township Police Department said Glen J. Fleming, 49, of Woodbury was killed when he crossed Berlin Crosskeys Road around 6:40 Tuesday night. According to police Fleming was walking near Falcon way when he was struck by Lamont T. Shipman, 47, of Monroeville.

Fleming, police said, was crossing the four lane road when he was hit by the Chevy Malibu driven by Shipman who was driving east and was in the left lane. The force of the impact threw Fleming around 92 feet according to police, while Shipman's car stopped in the right lane of the road.

After the accident Fleming was declared dead at the scene. There have been no charges filed against Shipman at this time.

Police departments from Winslow and Washington townships also responded to the scene, as did the Williamstown Fire Department, Medic 42, and the Gloucester County Medical Examiners Office.
