PENNSAUKEN  — Service on NJ Transit's Atlantic City Line between the two northern-most stops will remain suspended for at least two weeks.

Service between Cherry Hill and Philadephia was suspended in both directions on Friday after a garbage truck struck the bridge over River Road near the Pennsauken Transit Center. The impact bent a long pole attached to the truck, and also caused damage to the rails.

Engineers spent the weekend taking a closer look at the damage and determined it was significant enough to keep that segment closed, NJ Transit said. Outside construction firms have been brought into help with repair.

NJ Transit will provide bus service between the two stations during the closure.

PATCO, NJ Transit's LightRAIL and all NJT South Jersey buses will all cross honor tickets while the segment remains closed.

NJ Transit said the driver of the truck was issued a summons for alleged careless driving.
