MOUNT LAUREL — An Ocean County man was killed in a crash on Route 295 on Thursday night.

Joseph "Joey" Malta, 36, of Jackson was killed when his flat bed truck went off the northbound lanes near Route 73 in Mount Laurel, hit a traffic sign and wound up against a tree, according to State Police spokesman Alejandro Goez.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and Malta was alone in the truck, Goez said. It remains under investigation as to what caused the truck to leave the roadway.

Several lanes were closed for an investigation and clean up of the crash.
