President Barack Obama says he's confident that European leaders will do what's necessary to resolve the financial crisis threatening their countries.

Obama says financial markets are looking for strong signals that European nations are standing behind their currency, the euro.

Obama says European leaders are taking the right steps to address the crisis, and that those measures need to be put into effect.

Obama spoke Friday at the conclusion of a global economic summit in Cannes, France.
