NJSPBA is playing some good hockey for great local causes
Good friend of the show, NJSPBA President Pat Colligan joined us this morning and we got on the topic that is near and dear to his heart, the NJSPBA hockey team.
Colligan, who is a big hockey fan, spoke with PBA representative Mike Schulze and put an ad out to the over 33,000 union members to put a team together. After putting out the call, it resulted in somewhere between 70-80 people try out for the team. "They're real good," Colligan complimented of the team. "I got nervous. I went to the first game, I didn't know what to expect. They came out, nobody fell, no one tripped," Colligan joked.
Well, what many don't know, is that the really good hockey players and hard-working police officers are playing for good causes. Every game they play helps raise money for a different cause. The team , in their first year alone, has raised over $24,000 for local charities.
