NJ Woman Sentenced in Toddler’s Abduction
A judge on Friday sentenced a New Jersey woman to 20 years in prison for kidnapping a toddler from a store in 2008.
Eyvonne Alexander led the 3-year-old girl by the hand from the Unique Thrift Store in Elizabeth. Police had said the child was playing with dolls when her mother stepped away for a minute.
Police found the 57-year-old and the child at a gas station four hours later. The girl's clothing had been changed.
The Star-Ledger of Newark reports the sentencing judge called the crime "particularly heinous."
