What a weekend: Sunshine, comfortable warmth, and low humidity for NJ

The Bottom Line

This forecast is so nice, I almost have to wonder if I am missing something. (Don't worry — I'm not!) As we dive into the 10th of 16 summer weekends of 2026, New Jersey will continue to enjoy comfortable warmth and low humidity for a few more days. Friday will start with sunshine, although a storm system passing well south of New Jersey will throw some clouds into the sky starting in the afternoon. A brief shower or sprinkle is possible Friday evening to the south as well. Sunshine returns for the weekend, with high temperatures in the 80s. Perfect for whatever outdoor activities you have planned. Our weather will turn unsettled again next week, with some showers Monday afternoon and then more substantial rain Tuesday and Wednesday.

Weather Hazards

There is still not much to report here, in the short term at least.

A Moderate Risk of dangerous rip currents and rough surf continues at the Jersey Shore.

Heavy rain and strong thunderstorms may return around the middle of next week (Tuesday and Wednesday). Until then, our weather will stay calm and pleasant.

Normal high temperatures range from 86 to 87 degrees, while normal low temperatures range from 67 to 70 degrees.

July is, on average, New Jersey’s hottest and wettest month of the year.

Friday

Friday’s weather story begins where Thursday left off, with crisp, comfy air and clear skies.

Temperatures early Friday morning are mainly in the 50s and 60s. Almost feeling like September. Low humidity is a real treat in the middle of summer.

High temperatures will reach the lower 80s across most of the state, with 70s along the Shore.

Sunshine will dominate Friday morning. Some clouds will gently roll in during the afternoon, as a storm system dives well south of New Jersey. North Carolina and Virginia will get soaked by that system. New Jersey just gets some clouds and maybe a brief shower or sprinkle bubbling into South Jersey Friday evening.

Friday night turns partly cloudy all around, with that shower or sprinkle possible to the south, and lows in the lower 60s.

Saturday

Counting from Memorial Day to Labor Day, this is weekend #10 of 16. And it might be among the best of the bunch.

Expect mostly sunny skies, comfortably warm temperatures, and low humidity. Highs will again reach the lower 80s.

Beach, pool, park, backyard, errands, outdoor dining, a walk around the neighborhood — whatever is on the schedule, Saturday should cooperate nicely. Just keep that rip current risk in mind at the Shore.

Sunday

More good stuff on Sunday. It will just run a smidge warmer.

It will be another bright and sunny day, with highs pushing into the mid 80s. That is very close to normal for late July. But humidity should remain low enough to keep the day feeling pleasant and manageable.

Monday & Beyond

Monday starts a transition toward a more unsettled weather pattern. Clouds will increase through the day. The morning looks fine, for now. And then a few showers may develop during the afternoon. High temperatures will again reach the warm mid 80s.

New Jersey’s next substantial, widespread rain chance appears to arrive Tuesday into Wednesday. Periods of steady to heavy rain will be possible, potentially topping an inch. And strong thunderstorms may be on the table, warranting some extra attention.
