NJ Firefighter Suspended for Driving SUV
Officials have suspended a North Hudson firefighter without pay for the unauthorized use of a fire department SUV that was found illegally parked near a go-go bar on Thanksgiving.
The firefighter has been ticketed for driving with a suspended license, taking a vehicle without permission and parking at a fire hydrant.
Officials would not release the firefighter's name. He was off-duty at the time. North Hudson Regional Fire & Rescue Co-Director Jeff Welz told the Journal of Jersey City the department has filed administrative charges, including conduct unbecoming an officer and dereliction of duty.
A disciplinary hearing will likely take place in the next month or two.
