Last month, country superstar Faith Hill announced on Twitter she would no longer be the singer for NBC's 'Sunday Night Football' theme after six seasons.

As a surprise to nobody, NBC has gone down the same path to find Hill's replacement. They double dipped into the pretty, blonde, country-singing category and selected none other than American Idol-alumni Carrie Underwood.

Underwood will make her "Sunday Night Football" premiere on September 8, as NBC kicks off its first "SNF" broadcast of the 2013 NFL season with a faceoff between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants.

"I am thrilled to be a part of NBC's 'Sunday Night Football' and am so honored they asked me," Underwood said. "I have always loved football season, and it is so exciting to now become part of it every Sunday night!"

"Sunday Night Football" producer Fred Gaudelli added, "Carrie Underwood was our first and only choice to perform the 'Sunday Night Football' opening. She's one of America's most popular entertainers and the perfect fit for our show."

As pretty as Carrie Underwood is, I fear 'Sunday Night Football' will never be the same without Faith Hill.
