Twenty-seven-year-old Sheena Johnson was charged Wednesday.

A message left for her attorney Thursday was not immediately returned.

Johnson is accused of leaving her 5-year-old and 10-year-old sons unattended in an unlit, sealed storage locker in Ewing with no heat or running water.

The discovery was made April 18 after Johnson was arrested in Trenton for allegedly slashing her ex-boyfriend's tires.

Officers checked the unit after they say Johnson evaded questions about who was taking care of her children.

Johnson remains free on $50,000 bail, which was raised by community members. Johnson has said they lived in the unit because they had no other options.
