Little girl struck and killed in Lakewood, report says

UPDATE: The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office has released more information on the crash that killed a young girl.

LAKEWOOD — A girl of about 3 or 4 years old was struck by a car and killed in front of her home Thursday afternoon, News 12 New Jersey reported it was  told by police officials.

The driver of a car that struck the girl around 1 p.m. near her home on Forest Avenue near Seventh Avenue remained on the scene, according to the report. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report.

Lakewood Police spokesman Lt. Gregory Staffordsmith said there is an investigation into a fatal motor vehicle vs pedestrian incident but did not disclose additional details.
