Two concerts planned for this weekend on the beach in Atlantic City have been canceled due to the potential impact by Hurricane Hermine.

Mayor Don Guardian canceled Saturday's Florida-Georgia Line concert and Monday's Blink 182 out of concern for concertgoers, the bands and show staffs.

"Given the extreme weather conditions predicted for the beach this weekend, we were left with no other choice," Guardian said in a statement.

The city is already reeling from Thursday's slaying of a store manager at a busy shopping center. The resort city awoke Saturday morning to news that a police officer had been shot in the head outside a casino and one of the suspects was killed by police.

But Guardian said the city is open for business as usual this weekend.

"If you want to come on down to Atlantic City early Saturday and ride out the storm inside one of our luxurious casinos or hotels, there will be no better place to be this Labor Day weekend," he said.

The entire Jersey Shore is under a Tropical Storm Warning with the threat of 3-5 foot storm surges during the peak of the storm Sunday and Monday.

"If this surge combines with the time of high tide, the resulting coastal flooding could be major," New Jersey 101.5 meteorologist Dan Zarrow said. He expects winds to begin gusting Saturday night along the shore and rain moving in Sunday morning.

The final Atlantic City beach concert is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22, featuring Bell Biv Devoe and En Vogue.

Anyone who purchased tickets should receive an automatic refund from their point of purchase. Internet and phone orders will automatically be canceled and refunded, according to Ticketmaster's website.
