Topic A tonight will be the recent tragedy in Old Bridge and whether or not you feel the system failed Heather Trapp.

If you were listening early Friday morning, Jersey Jo V got the information on our website, nj1015.com, about the Amber Alert abduction of 2 little girls from Old Bridge, who were taken by their father.

The full horror of the story wasn’t known until later in the day that their dad stabbed their mother in the Old Bridge home where he lived, and then took off with them to a motel in upstate NY, where he then took his own life!

According to police, Anthony Trapp, the girls’ father, had visitation of his daughters on Thursday; and when his estranged wife went to pick them up, he attacked her.

Their relationship was often volatile and had prompted her to file for divorce and obtain 3 restraining orders against him. Her wish was to take her daughters to live with her mom on Staten Island, only to have a judge vacate those orders.

I’m sure more will be learned from this story in the coming days, but in the meantime, the daughters are living with their grandmother, who doesn’t know how she will be able to pay for her daughter’s funeral.

A family friend said that Heather’s mom, Fran Newman, was depleting her savings in order to help her daughter with an upcoming legal battle and to finance the apartment where Heather had lived in Old Bridge.

Should you wish to make a contribution to the special fund that's been set up for the daughters Emma and Sophia,
