Kim Davis, a 46-year-old New York resident who formerly lived in Newark, will also have to serve one year of supervised release under the sentence imposed Tuesday in Newark.

Prior to his arrest, Davis worked in East Orange's property maintenance department

Davis pleaded guilty to extortion, admitting that he accepted a $5,000 cash payment in September 2007 from a city property owner. In return, he agreed to help that person obtain needed permits and certificates from the building department to build a new home.
