Governor Chris Christie more than tripled his use of state helicopters since June, when he was heavily criticized for arriving by chopper to personal events like his son's baseball game.

During his first 16 months as governor, Christie averaged one chopper flight every two weeks. Since June, the average jumped to one flight every four days.

In February, Christie arrived at MetLife Stadium via chopper for the announcement that WrestleMania would come to East Rutherford next year. The trip cost approximately $1,500.

Christie also used a state helicopter to attend a championship rally for the New York Giants.

Christie told reporters this week in Bridgetwater, "When it's appropriate to use the helicopter, I will."
