Linden police tell The Star-Ledger that 35-year-old William Prokos of Kearny and Cliffside Park will face charges of burglary and theft by deception. He was reportedly making arrangements to turn himself in Wednesday.

Authorities say Prokos posted a "for rent" sign at a vacant single-family home last November and somehow changed the locks.

A couple interested in renting the home soon contacted Prokos and eventually signed a lease. Authorities say the couple gave Prokos $6,000 in cash to cover the rent and "administrative" fees.

Several days later, a 63-year-old Delaware woman who owns the home went there to check on it and was surprised when she found the couple living there.
