That was the only solace I had the day after an effort by the New York Giants, where the team amazingly admitted that they did not match the Eagles intensity.

Anybody who knows me knows that I am a die-hard Giants and Mets fan. I absolutely admit that I take many losses, especially Giants ones to heart. I also try to only write about sports in these blog postings, when it is absolutely required.

While I am a life-long Giants fan, I still manage to stay even-keel and have adopted the attitude that the season is a very long one with plenty of peaks and valleys. With this team’s performances sometimes, you have to take that approach before you make yourself go mad.

This was a game that if players had trouble getting amped up for, then maybe they are in the wrong profession. Giants vs. Eagles at home in front of a national audience with a chance to essentially end your bitter division rivals season. Can’t ask for much more of a storyline than that.

Without rehashing the disappointing particulars of the game, I absolutely never thought I would witness a New York Giants team rush for only 29 yards. Simply put….that is embarrassing.

I will sit and play the game back in my head until the Giants get back on the field this Monday night against New Orleans, because that is the agony I put myself through as a fan. The Giants tend to thrive when people are down on them, and do not always handle praise and adulation as well. This year, they have also had some of the better performances on the road.

After a long day and night of New York Giants football, and a Monday off from work because, well, Sunday night games do not work so well with my normal work day schedule, it was time to get my mind off an uninspired football performance.

Thankfully, my favorite Monday companion, my DVR, was stocked with just the perfect day to decompress. I plan to write a piece on some of the best TV shows of the year, and if anybody has show recommendations for me, I am always game to try some out.

My three Sunday night shows of choice, at the moment, are Boardwalk Empire, How to Make it in America, and Next Iron Chef. All three put forth solid, INSPIRED efforts. You mix in the Friday night episode I miss of my favorite new series of the year, Boss, and it was just remedy.

I promise I will try to not make it a habit to vent to the readers about a sports loss, but this was one time I needed to get it off my chest.

And it will certainly not be the last Monday, I plop into my bed, fire up my television, and think….At least there is DVR.
