WEST HAVEN, Conn. — A University of New Haven student who had been missing for more than a day has been found safe.

Police say 18-year-old Allie McGrory, of Medford, was found Thursday evening and is in good health. No other details were immediately released.

McGrory, a member of the school's softball team, hadn't been seen since Tuesday night when she may have left the West Haven campus to a see a movie.

She missed the first day of classes of the new semester on Wednesday and a practice.

UNH Assistant Police Chief Don Parker said they had received information that McGrory may have been dealing with issues that he described as typical for a college freshman.

A university spokeswoman says everyone at the school is relieved that McGrory is safe.
