6-year-old girl hurt, man killed in Plainfield shooting Friday

A man has been killed and a 6-year-old girl injured in a Plainfield shooting Friday afternoon, WABC reported.

The shooting happened shortly before 3 p.m. and left the man with a serious injury, the report said, quoting Plainfield police. He reportedly died a short time later. The girl was grazed, according to the report.

Authorities remained on the scene Friday early evening, and did not have any suspects in custody, according to the report.

In another shooting this week, an 8-year-old was grazed by a bullet in Asbury Park. Authorities are still working to determine whether the bullet was fired by a suspect or a police officer as they exchanged gunfire outside her home.
