JERSEY CITY  — Six people suffered minor injuries when their bus hit a sign near the Holland Tunnel.

The charter bus was carrying 42 passengers when it also stuck a 2004 Honda Accord at Jersey Avenue where Route 78 ends and becomes 12th Avenue, according to Port Authority spokesman Joseph Pentangelo. Video footage from CBS New York shows the bus hit the base of an electronic sign in front of a Port Authority bus terminal.

The 20-year-old driver from New Jersey was charged with making an improper turn, careless driving and being an unlicensed driver. Pentangelo did not disclose his identity.

The footage shows a small booth for monitoring traffic at the base of the sign that was not hit. Heavy damage on the driver's side of the bus could also be seen.

The bus is operated by Yep Tours but no other identifying information was seen on the side of the bus. Pantangelo said the bus originated its trip in Pennsylvania bound for Manhattan.

Investigation of the crash created 10- to 15-minute delays entering the tunnel, with a big delay on Route 78. It was cleared out by 12:15 p.m.
