A three-car accident on Route 129 in Trenton shut down the road and snarled traffic for miles around coming into the city.

The Times of Trenton reports five people were injured when a SUV crossed the grassy median near Cass Street from the southbound lanes into the northbound lanes hitting two cars causing it to overturn. The driver of one of the cars was trapped for a time in his vehicle according to the Times.

Route 129 was closed in both directions at Cass Street as of 10:20 a.m. The closure created a ripple effect of traffic, according to New Jersey Traffic's Jill Myra, causing delays on Route 195 and 29 heading west into Trenton, from Route 1 trying to get onto Route 129 and all around the downtown area. The ramp from Route 29 west to Route 129 is also closed.

Trenton Police would not comment on the crash.
