Authorities say 15 people were injured when a New Jersey Transit bus and a van collided head-on in northern New Jersey.

NJ Transit said 17 people were on the 40 Line bus and two people were in the van when the crash occurred on Port Street, a business strip in Newark, about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday. The cause of the crash was not yet known.

The van driver was seriously injured and was taken to a hospital. Other details were not immediately released.

Fourteen bus passengers were being treated for minor to moderate injuries, ranging from facial lacerations to chest injuries. None of the injuries was considered life-threatening.
