If you're from the Dirty Jerz, you already know we are the "Diner Capital Of The World", that many famous stars including Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Whitney Houston, Sinatra are from here, that we are the only state where you can't pump your own gas, etcetera. But here are some quirky much lesser known facts about the Garden State that you probably didn't know.

1. While Cooperstown, NY has a trademark on the phrase "The Birthplace Of Baseball", it was actually Hoboken, NJ where the very first recorded baseball game was played with codified rules. It happened in 1846.

2. Hoboken also lays claim to the very first brewery opening in America back in 1642. And to this day people are still peeing in alleys there.

3. The famous MGM lion Leo, and Elsie the Borden cow, are both buried in New Jersey.

4. We all heard of the Jersey Devil, but did you know the Philadelphia Zoo had a standing offer of $10,000 to anyone who could capture it? And that's nothing compared to the Hunt Brothers Circus which once offered $100,000 for the capture of the Pine Barrens demon.

5. Jersey is much more rock and roll than you knew. In his home in Mahwah, NJ, Les Paul came up with the first solid body electric guitar.

6. The first time a human was replaced by a robot happened in 1961 in Ewing Township by General Motors.

7. Fans of the movie Dogma can find the Buddy Christ statue from the film standing in Jay and Silent Bob's Comic Book store in Red Bank.

8. The only federally licensed zoo to treat abused and sick animals is the Popcorn Park Zoo.

9. The Atlantic City boardwalk was the very first boardwalk in the country.

10. The first American Indian Reservation was in Shamong Township, New Jersey, established August 29 in 1758.
