One of the world’s premier cancer treatment and research facilities is teaming up with a south Jersey hospital to open up a $100 million cancer center in Camden. Officials with MD  Anderson and Cooper University Health Care say the center will be up and running this October. Gov. Chris Christie made the announcement this morning.

“There probably isn’t a family in this state including my own that hasn’t been affected by the physical and emotional pain that comes with these devastating words, ‘You have cancer',” says Christie. “Approximately 17,000 residents lose their battle with cancer every year.”

Under the agreement, doctors from MD Anderson will help in treating cancer patients at Cooper and the hospital will take part in clinical trials using MD Anderson’s cancer medications.
