Boil Water Advisory Lifted For All Of Monmouth County [VIDEO]

Monmouth County officials have lifted the last of the boil water orders as work continues  towards normalcy in its water consumption as repair begins  at the Swimming River Reservoir in Middletown.

Outdoor water use bans still remain for all Monmouth County communities.

As the ban is lifted, New Jersey American Water has several suggestions for customers.

Run all cold water faucets in your home for one minute at one time at the highest flow rate that you can without causing splashing or flooding of drains.

To flush automatic ice makers, make three batches of ice and discard.

Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle. Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines specified in the owner’s manual.

Run drinking water fountains for one minute at the highest flow rate possible.

“We are pleased that New Jersey American Water is working diligently to resolve this issue,” Monmouth County Freeholder John P. Curley said. “We also remind our residents that the water restrictions remain in effect and that the support and vigilance by residents will get us through this emergency.”

New Jersey American Water reported Sunday on their Facebook page the arrivals of 2  12-inch, temporary water lines are now being connected to 30-inch water main to distribute water to Middletown.

BROOKDALE BACK IN BUSINESS

Brookdale Community College will reopen on Monday with all classes, camps and administrative offices open.

However, rhe Jersey Blues Dining Room will not serve prepared food. Prepackaged items will be available for purchase in the Jersey Blues dining Room, the Convenience Store and in Larrison Hall.

The College’s Fitness Center will be open, but showers will not be available but the Children’s Learning Center will be closed.

Bottled water will be available for students and employees throughout the Lincroft campus and at the Long Branch and Neptune Higher Education Centers. Hand sanitizers will be available at locations throughout the college.

BEFORE RESUMING NORMAL USE OF WATER, NEW JERSEY AMERICAN WATER SUGGESTS..

• Throw away uncooked food or beverages or ice cubes if made with tap water during the day of the advisory;

• Keep boiled water in the refrigerator for drinking;

• Rinse hand-washed dishes for a minute in diluted bleach (one tablespoon of household bleach per gallon of tap water) or clean your dishes in a dishwasher using the hot wash cycle and dry cycle.

• Do not swallow water while you are showering or bathing;

• Provide pets with boiled water after cooling;

• Do not use home filtering devices in place of boiling or using bottled water; most home water filters will not provide adequate protection from microorganisms;

• Use only boiled water to treat minor injuries.
