Less than 24 hours after Chris Christie commented on the Atlantic City takeover legislation NJ 101.5's "Ask The Governor" program, the governor announced he will hold a press conference at 2:30 p.m. to further discuss ongoing issues involving the struggling resort town.

On Wednesday night's show Christie said he will not allow Atlantic City to declare bankruptcy when it runs out of money at the end of the week, due in part to a large budget deficit. He also reiterated his criticisms of Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto, who has said he will not allow a vote on the takeover legislation unless changes are made that prevent the union contracts from being dissolved.

In anticipation of the possibility of running out of money by the end of the week, Atlantic City’ officials plan to shutter most city offices for three weeks, which employees such as the city's police, firefighters and sanitation workers will remain on the job and be given IOUs that promise they’ll be paid later.

It is not known exactly what Christie plans to discuss during the Thursday press conference, which will take place at the Statehouse in Trenton.
