Today the President was in town to see the progress for himself that the shore has made. I"m sure he received a warm reception from the Governor.

Quite different last week when the Governor met the cast of the MTV show "Jersey Shore!"

They say it was an awkward meeting between the cast and the Governor the day when the Today Show was in Seaside.

Ok, so I’ll admit that the image of Seaside took a battering when the MTV show was in production.

But then again, I remember it being always that way.

Back in 1990, when I worked for the premiere dance music station in the country that catered to the “bennies and the bridge and tunnel crowd”, Seaside was like that even then.

So why should their offspring not have followed suit.

And yes, the meeting seemed cordial enough, if not a bit awkward. After all, the Governor is a possible presidential candidate in 2016.

“Mala figura” as grandma would say! (Looks bad!)

But I think she was overdramatizing it a bit when she said, “I guess he doesn’t like us!”

Sure, he may have thrown out the line about them being bad for New Jersey.

After all, he is prime pitchman for the “Stronger than the Storm” ad campaign where he and his family are taking a sun-soaked day at the beach.

So you would expect him to say that.

But ask the merchants what they thought of the crew being in town, and they might have a different story.

It doesn't sound like Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will be fist-pumping together any time soon.

The 25-year-old reality TV starlet came face-to-face with the Jersey Shore-hating politico this morning, and it doesn't sound like he had the nicest things to say to the cast of the hit MTV show.

"Getting told why we are bad for jersey. Amazing." Snooki tweeted today with a pic of her and JWoww chatting with Christie on the Seaside Heights boardwalk.

"Nicole simply wanted to know once and for all why Governor Christie dislikes the cast of Jersey Shore," Snooki's rep tells E! News exclusively. "The show brought the beloved summer destination a significant amount of revenue during its 6 seasons on MTV. Nicole loves, respects and admires her adopted state of NJ which she now resides in with her family. "

Snooki and Christie have not been mutual fans of each other for quite sometime. Their "feud" goes back to 2008 when Christie slammed Jersey Shore.

Nonetheless, Christie, Snooki and the rest of her Jersey Shore castmates we're cordial to each other during their awkward meeting today.

The ladies shook hands with him and even exchanged a few brief words about his efforts to rebuild the Seaside Heights boardwalk after it was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.

What did she expect? Roses being thrown at her feel.

But he was nice enough, even if he didn’t like the image they promoted.

But were they to come back and do what they’ve done to bring business to the shore, do you think he’d be singing the same tune?

I'm guessing "yes", although I think that "ship has sailed!
