Ricky Ricardo is a good friend and radio colleague who broadcasts the Yankee games on radio in New York and the Eagles games on radio in Philadelphia. Last Saturday night he stuck his head in my door and said "they're dancing in the streets on Bergenline Avenue."

Ricky and I both grew up in Union City where news of Fidel Castro's death has brought joy throughout the land. I remember growing up in an Italian neighborhood and watching it change as more and more Cubans came to town. These people gave up all the success they had at home to come here and start with nothing just to get away from Castro.

We talked about how there was never any fighting between the Cubans and Italians because they are both a hard working people. Now comes the hope that those hard working folks still there will be able to enjoy the same freedoms that their friends and relatives left for. Long live Cuba libre.
