A woman accused of tying up, beating and starving an eight-year-old girl has pleaded guilty to first-degree kidnapping.

The Times of Trenton reports that 36-year-old Plesi Nichols of Trenton pleaded guilty Wednesday and now faces an 18-year state prison term. Her boyfriend, 29-year-old Anthony Roberson of Trenton, had pleaded guilty to kidnapping in June.

Roberson and Nichols were indicted last year on charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, aggravated assault, child endangerment and weapons offenses.

Mercer County authorities say the girl suffered severe lacerations from being tied to a banister and doorknob in the South Logan Avenue home. They also say she was beaten, and the house where she and Nichols' three other children lived contained feces, rotting food, roaches and rats.
