Trenton dad finds man in 6-year-old daughter’s bed, police say
TRENTON — A father who went to check on his 6-year-old daughter in her room Tuesday night discovered a man in her bed.
The man turned out to be 32-year-old Edgar Mendoza, who prosecutors say is in this country illegally.
The father noticed a light was off on the second floor of their home on Bayard Street in the Chambersburg section of Trenton around 1:30 a.m., according to Trenton police.
The man then jumped out window and ran when the father walked in, he said.
Police searched the neighborhood and arrested Edgar Mendoza a short time later on Franklin Street. After questioning by police, he was charged with sexual assault of the girl, police said.
The Office Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has a detainer on Mendoza, according to police.
The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office on Thursday said they have filed a motion to have the Guatemala national detained.
