Suspect Identified in Carneys Point Police Shooting
Authorities continue to search for a suspect involved in a police shooting in southern New Jersey that left another suspect hospitalized.
Salem County Prosecutor John Lenahan says police have not identified a person of interest as of early Wednesday night.
Lenahan says 23-year-old Sabir Lynard (sabeer Leonard) of Carneys Point surrendered 30 minutes after the exchange. He remains hospitalized with a gunshot wound.
No officers were injured.
Lenahan says police spotted a vehicle around 1 a.m. Wednesday that was reported stolen from a nearby apartment complex in Carneys Point, where Lynard also lives.
When police pursued, the vehicle left the roadway and two suspects fled on foot into a wooded area. When officers approached, they were met with gunfire, and the other suspect soon fled.
