A judge made the decision Monday during an arraignment hearing for Victor Bennett. The 21-year-old Camden man faces attempted murder and other charges stemming from Wednesday night's shooting of Camden County Officer Prince Reed.

Bennett did not enter a plea and said very little at the hearing, which was attended by more than 50 uniformed police officers. He was captured Friday afternoon after leading police on a three-block foot chase.

Authorities have said Reed was shot in the arm when someone opened fire on his vehicle. He did not return fire but later searched for the suspects before being treated at a hospital.

Reed attended Monday's hearing but declined comment.
