Springfield Doctor Sentenced For Sex Assault
A New Jersey doctor has been sentenced to a year in jail following his conviction on sexual assault charges.
The Union County Prosecutor's office says Dr. James Mauti was sentenced Friday.
The Springfield-based specialist in sports and internal medicine was arrested in August 2007 on charges that he assaulted a 32-year-old woman in 2006 after sedating her for a medical procedure. The victim had previously worked for Mauti.
He was convicted by a jury in December 2012.
Mauti must register as a sex offender under Megan's Law upon his release and be placed on lifetime parole supervision.
