Sports Betting Public Question on the Ballot. It’s worth a shot!

It may be a long shot, but one worth taking….taking the first step to legalize sports betting in NJ. And we have a chance to get the ball rolling a week from tomorrow as the only public question to appear on the ballot is the referendum to allow sports betting here.

Just within the past week, NY opened another “racino”…at the Aqueduct racetrack in Queens…just a quick bus ride, past the Meadowlands, and train ride out to their brand spanking new racino. Do you think, perhaps, some of those dollars are leaving here?

Ah, but you’re thinking….we too have casinos here, don’t we? Problem is there all the way down in AC, and revenue hasn’t seen a uptick in a while.

Sports betting would give a nice shot in the arm to an industry…actually 2 industries…that are suffering right under our noses…the casino industry, and the horseracing industry; that if the latter is allowed to wither, we could see more sprawl on those open fields that are now horse farms…as well as jobs leaving the state.

Again, a long shot, but worth the shot to vote “yes” on the public question!
