A dump truck struck the sign near exit 8 for Route 539 on the westbound side overnight, splitting it in two and taking down the entire sign structure, according to New Jersey State Police.

Westbound traffic was being diverted off the road at exit 11 again as of 7 a.m.  with delays starting near Exit 16 in Jackson.

Heavy traffic developed on Route 524 approaching Old York Rd by drivers trying to get around the slow traffic on Route 195.

The driver of the truck was not injured and no charges have yet been filed,  according to police.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
