Additional details have been released about Wednesday's arrest of a Jackson man who is charged with murder after he allegedly tried to run over a Toms River officer.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office in a statement says suspect Shamar Kerr, 24  was the driver of a 2014 Silver Ford Focus parked on Old Orchard Road with two other passengers.  The truck was  approached by a Toms River police officer on foot who suspected drug activity on Old Orchard Road West in the Grande Woodlands development around 4:16 p.m.

The officer fired his weapon at Kerr when, police say,  he attempted to run the officer over with his vehicle. He then fled on foot. The two passengers, Candido A. Jackson, 26  and Jessica N. Curcio, 23, both of Toms River, were taken into custody by police and charged with possession of Heroin, Possession with intent to distribute. Jackson was held on $200,000 bail and Curcio on $75,000.

The two officers were taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River and released on Thursday morning.

Police launched a manhunt around the area along Route 9 and 70 in Toms River and Lakewood for Kerr. He was found around 8:45 p.m. behind an Exxon gas station on Route 9 near Cox Cro Road in Toms River and arrested without incident.

Kerr faces charges of attempted murder, eluding police and possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute. Bail is set at $500,000.
