Police: Man breaks into home with family inside sleeping; suspect sought
Authorities are searching for a man who allegedly burglarized a Toms River home while the residents - including children - were inside sleeping.
According to Toms River Community Affairs Officer Ralph J. Stocco, the incident happened just before 4:30 a.m. Saturday. Police said in a press release that an unknown male entered the Wyoming Avenue home while the family was asleep.
The suspect, who was caught on a video surveillance camera, stole two purses from inside the home then left, police said.
Police have described the suspect caught on surveillance video as a man in his early to mid-20s. He was seen wearing a hooded Champion sweatshirt with a zipper, jeans and "what appear to be two toned Addias flip flops (possibly black and white)," police said in a statement.
Authorities have released the video images and are asking anyone with information about the break-in or the suspect to immediately contact Toms River Police Detective James Carey at 732-349-0150, Ext. 1292 or Detective Thomas DiMichele at Ext. 1333.
