Last night, we talked about a teacher who asks her first graders to rub her feet, and put on her slippers.

You read right!

First graders are asked to put on the slippers for a teacher.  One child went home crying and complaining to her grandmother that she was always to listen to her teacher, but didn't think this was what she was supposed to do.

Out of the mouth of babes......!

You, no doubt, heard about the Jerry Sandusky interview with Bob Costas the other night, where the accused coach admitted to horseplay in the showers with some of the at-risk youths he counseled.  For him, hugging them, and snapping towels on each others butts wasn't off limits.

Now, I don't mean to trivialize what's he's accused of having done, but even to suggest that it was only "horseplay" is to assume that we'd all think it to be acceptable behavior between a caretaker and a child.

Sure Jerry, and I got a bridge I'd like to sell you!

Now comes a story about a Bayonne teacher that doesn't seem to have a problem smacking one of his freshman students on the butt, and saying that he really likes the way she dresses.  Her classmates are defending him, saying that he "plays around like every other teacher", and that he meant no harm!

Leading one to question, how many other playful teachers are there at  Bayonne High?

(By the way, is Bayonne an "Abbott District"?  Just sayin'.)

The best that the administrators could do was to place said teacher on administrative leave with pay while they investigate...which could take up to 30 days!  No charges have been filed in the butt-smacking incident.

Now before I get accused of slamming all teachers, you know this isn't directed to all, or all of the many capable people in charge of our children, but those few that would blur the line between what is and isn't appropriate.

Common sense.......don't touch the kids!
