A 17-year-old Paterson boy will be tried as an adult on numerous charges stemming from a series of shootings in the northern New Jersey city last summer.

Bail was set Tuesday at $1 million for Nakendrick Lewis, who pleaded not guilty to two counts each of murder and attempted murder.

Passaic County prosecutors say the four shootings, which left two men dead and two women injured, occurred in a city neighborhood during a three-month span.

A motive for the shootings has not been determined, but authorities don't believe they were gang-related. They say Lewis knew at least some of his victims, and that at least some shootings did not appear to be random.
