The ramp will be closed "for several hours" according to an alert from New Brunswick Police while a load of garbage is picked up off the ramp that curves sharply onto Route 1. The truck also spilled fuel in the incident.

New Jersey Fast Traffic says the truck flipped around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday morning. NJ Traffic north reporter Bob Williams suggests using Paulis Boulevard just north of Route 1 or Route 27 to reverse direction to get onto Route 1 south.

WIlliams says the exit is one of the busiest in the state as traffic from nearby New Jersey Turnpike's exit 9 uses the ramp to get to Route 1 and points south. Traffic colleague Bernie Wagenblast adds that the ramp where the truck overturned is a hairpin turn "that could easily cause a truck to overturn if they take the ramp too fast or if there's a load shift"

Text TRAFFIC to 89000 to find out when the ramp is reopened.
