NJ Woman Tried to Murder Grandma with Antifreeze, Authorities Say
A Brooklawn, New Jersey woman is in custody after allegedly trying to poison her grandmother with antifreeze. 43-year-old Anna Castagna is charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of aggravated assault in connection with the alleged incident which left 88-year-old Mary Groatman in critical condition on life support.
At the time of the poisoning, which is alleged to have occurred on Sunday, August 19, authorities say Groatman had been residing at a rehabilitation center in Deptford, New Jersey.
An investigation is underway by the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office in conjunction with the Deptford Township Police Department.
There is no word on a motive. Castagna is in custody in Gloucester County Jail on $250,000 cash bail.
