State police say a truck driver from New Jersey has been killed in a collision with a minivan on the New York State Thruway in the Hudson Valley.

Troopers say the van was traveling slowly with its hazard lights on as it attempted to pull onto the shoulder of the southbound lanes of Interstate 87 around 9:10 p.m. Monday in the Orange County town of Tuxedo, 40 miles north of New York City.

Police say a tractor-trailer slammed into the back of the van, sending both vehicles off the highway and into trees.

Troopers say the truck driver, 35-year-old Quadir Holman of Newark, was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Two people in the van were injured. One was treated and released and the other is hospitalized.
