Starting today, spectators traveling from New York to MetLife Stadium via the Meadowlands Rail Line can purchase and print special train tickets online in advance – right from their own homes.

“We are testing online ticketing as part of our ongoing effort to put technology to work for our customers to improve their overall experience on the NJ Transit system,” says Executive Director Jim Weinstein, “giving customers the ability to purchase and print tickets online in advance for football games and other MetLife Stadium events will enhance overall convenience for customers and reduce ticket lines at New York Penn Station.”

A spokeswoman for NJ Transit says if the program is a success, the Agency will look at expanding it for Jersey rail riders, on many different lines.

Customers heading to the Meadowlands who buy online tickets will need to have their printed tickets available for a visual inspection by train crews onboard the train between New York Penn Station and Secaucus Junction.  In addition, tickets feature a 2D barcode that customers will scan at special readers to pass through the fare gates at Secaucus Junction.  Web tickets will only be valid for the specific event selected.
