A high-speed chase on Route 46 ended with the arrest of a 25-year-old New York City man Saturday, NJ Advance Media reported.

The chase began after police in Fairlfield observed a 2013 Nissan Altima making an illegal U-turn around 6:14 p.m., and made a motor vehicle stop, the article states. As the office approached the vehicle, Oshane Thompson of Queens Village drove off, with multiple units in pursuit.

During the chase, authorities told NJ Advance Media, a tire on the suspect's car blew out. He fled on foot and was eventually apprehended after a struggle with officers, according to the article. After being arrested, authorities told NJ Advance Media that Thompson was also found to be in possession if less than 50 grams of marijuana, suspected drug paraphernalia and 15 gift cards. The story states that it is unclear if the cards were stolen. he was also found to have an active warrant out of Pennsylvania for "cred card related offenses."

He was transported to Essex County Jail on $25,000 bond, according to the article. Charges include eluding police, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and obstruction of justice.
